Leaking Wikis?

Part of the problem of understanding what is going on with the recent news of documents appearing on the website WikiLeaks.org is that a certain portion of the population still doesn't know what a wiki is. Here's the definition from the online version of the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language
wi·ki (wĭk'ē)
n. pl. wi·kis
A collaborative website whose content can be edited by anyone who has access to it.

[Originally an abbreviation of WikiWikiWeb , software developed by American computer programmer Howard G. Cunningham (born 1949) : Hawaiian wikiwiki , quick + web .]
How WikiLeaks works can be further understood by looking at the site's guidelines.

Perhaps you're one of the many who really has no idea what is going on in Afghanistan? For a little background reading, these will get you started:

Afghanistan. [958.104 AFG]

Coll, Steve. Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001. [958.104 COL]

Kaplan, Robert D. Soldiers of God: With Islamic Warriors in Afghanistan and Pakistan. [958.104 KAP]

Stewart, Rory. The Places in Between. [915.8104 STE]

We have plenty more, just go to our catalog and type in "Afghanistan."
